SRFD Starts RIT Program
The Sunman Rural Fire Department, with the help of other local fire departments, is starting a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) program. The SRFD is currently seeking members from other fire departments within Ripley county to join us in the development and implementation of this program.
Introductory Meeting
The SRFD held the first introductory meeting earlier this evening. Members from Batesville, Morris, and Sunman joined in the introductory session led by Asst. Chief Bill Craig. This session was used to introduce the concept of a RIT team and what RIT training entails. This session was also used to schedule the first formal RIT training session.
First Formal RIT Training Session
The first formal RIT training session has been scheduled for this Saturday, May 17th from 8:00am to 12:00pm at the Sunman Rural Fire Department. During this training session we will be reviewing the RIT training videos and presentations that have been provided to the SRFD. If you are interested in joining this session please contact the Sunman Rural Fire Department. Please note that this training session is scheduled to be an in-class session so there is no need to bring any fire fighting or rescue gear or equipment.
