HazMat Ops Training Announced

The Versailles fire department will be holding a HazMat Operations Level class on November 15th and 16th. Please contact the chief by Tuesday, October 28th if you are interested in enrolling in this class. For more information please check out the HazMat Ops – Versailles course announcement.

Firefighter I – Retest Scheduled

The Firefighter I retest has been scheduled for Saturday, May 31st at 8:00am at the Sunman Rural Fire Department. All members that have not yet received their Firefighter I certifications are urged to complete this test.

Physicals / SCBA Fit Test Scheduled

The yearly physicals have been scheduled for Monday, June 9th. A signup sheet will be posted. Also, the SCBA Fit test has been rescheduled for this date as well. We will be scheduling 30 minute time slots in order to handle both the Physical and Fit portions of the test so please sign up as soon as possible to prevent testing delays.

Please be sure to sign up for a time slot to have your SCBA fit test completed. A sign up sheet is located on the door between the bay area and the main hallway near the communications room.

Photo Opportunity Next Monday (4/28)

Next Monday, April 28th a reporter will be visiting the fire station to take a group picture of the department members. Please be sure to wear your dress blue uniform (no tie) and be at the fire station no later than 6:00pm. Also please stick around and be sure to have an individual photo taken so that we may update the website with professional looking photos of our members.

800MHz Radio Usage Recommendations

All firefighters attempting to use the 800MHz radios to contact a dispatch center should adhere to the following guidelines.

Ripley County Dispatch – Use FE-DISP channel.
Dearborn County Dispatch – Use NMA-1 channel.

Check the Oil in Tanker 1119!

All firefighters that use Tanker 1119 should check the oil upon returning to the station. This announcement is due to a leak within the engine that is allowing diesel fuel to mix with the oil. If this goes unchecked it could result in severe damage to the truck’s engine.

Charge Accounts Policy Updates

The SRFD Treasurer sent out a letter to all members of the SRFD regarding the proper usage of charge accounts. A list of the highlights of this letter are provided below.

We currently only have one charge account (No. 316) at Sunman IGA.
The Rural, Club and Festival accounts have now been combined into one account.
Use the Marathon Ashland Credit Card for all fuel purchases… Insist on it!

Also, the following information is required for all receipts submitted to the SRFD treasurer.

The category of the purchase (i.e. food, fuel, etc…).
The purpose of the purchase (two or three words).
Signature of the purchaser on the receipt.
Finally, place the receipt on the SRFD Treasurer’s desk.

Tables & Chairs Usage Policy

It was brought up in the last business meeting that any firefighter wishing to use the tables and chairs from the storage building must have approval from either the Chief or President prior to using them. Also, it should be noted that any firefighter who requests the equipment is responsible for the return of the equipment in the same manner that it was taken. So basically, please clean and dry the tables and chairs prior to returning them to the storage building.
