The Sunman Rural Fire Department sincerely appreciates all of the hard work and effort provided by the Town of Sunman, the Sunman Legion, Ripley County Dispatch and our neighboring fire departments for honoring our dearest friend in such a warm and respectful manner. We would also like to send a special thank you to the Batesville Fire Department and the Morris Volunteer Fire Department for taking on the responsibility of manning our station while our members attended the funeral ceremonies.
When I am called to duty, God
Wherever flames may rage,
Give me strength to save some life
Whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert
To the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me,
To guard my every neighbor and
Protect his property.
And if according to my fate
I am to lose my life
Please bless with your protecting hand
My family and my wife.

The Mobile Air Unit trailer allows the Sunman Rural Fire Department to refill SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) cylinders worn by firefighters at fire scenes as well as the high-pressure storage cylinders located on the department’s heavy-rescue truck. This trailer will also be used to provide mutual aid to neighboring departments through emergency scene SCBA management and storage cylinder refill assistance.
